Purpose:
- The Senior Captain is responsible for the operation of the company aircraft. When assigned to a flight, the captain has the final authority regarding the operation of the aircraft.
- Ensures all flight and ground operations are conducted at the highest levels of safety and comply with federal and applicable foreign aviation regulations and company policies/procedures.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for aircraft airworthiness and safety of passengers and crew; pilot-in-command for all phases of flight.
- Keep informed and trained on international flight operations; plan and execute all aspects of international flights.
- Obtain training/skills to obtain type rating for appropriate aircraft.
- Assist aviation leadership in maintaining/developing policies and procedures.
- Maintain mastery of aircraft systems; make decisions to start/delay/cancel flights or deviate routes/destinations when conditions dictate.
- Confer with crewmembers; maintain open communication.
- Maintain highest safety standards through pertinent knowledge, pilot proficiency training, and continuing education.
- Maintain understanding of emergency, survival, and medical equipment.
- Stay current on FAA/foreign regulations and industry/equipment developments.
- Advisory support to aviation/maintenance leadership; monitor crew performance and delegate duties.
- Communicate effectively with passengers and corporate executives; ensure safety and security away from home base.
- Maintain flight manuals/charts; complete flight logs/paperwork; post-flight storage/protection, cleaning, and restocking.
- Act with customer focus; provide leadership; mentor less-experienced crewmembers; complete collateral duties.
Qualifications:
- Bachelorβs degree preferred; aviation-related education/training desired.
- FAA Airline Transport Pilot β Airplane Multiengine Land (ATP) certificate.
- Type rating and prior pilot/command experience on company aircraft preferred.
- Previous corporate aviation department flight experience required.
- Extensive international operations required.
- Flight instruction/teaching experience desirable.
- Valid FAA medical certificate.
