Senior Automation Engineer

Role: Senior Automation Engineer supporting manufacturing automation systems at Johnson & Johnson's Malvern site within the Innovative Medicine division. Responsibilities include supporting automation system validation, configuration, compliance, risk assessments, and investigations; leading project scope and resource planning; developing proactive mechanisms to assess business needs; managing project execution, and fostering cross-functional partnerships to optimize processes. The role also involves supporting digital transformation initiatives such as predictive maintenance and advanced process control, and serving as the site lead for automation development operations. Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Engineering or relevant discipline; minimum of 2 years' experience in automation, process control systems (e.g., Allen Bradley PLC); knowledge of cGMP and FDA regulations preferred; strong communication, decision-making, and problem-solving skills. Preferred skills include familiarity with DeltaV, Ignition, Wonderware, Historian tools like OSI PI, Lean/Six Sigma certifications, and validation methodologies. High-Value: manufacturing automation in a regulated (GxP) environment, supporting biotech or pharmaceutical production, potentially in biologics or small molecules. The position involves project leadership, system validation, compliance with regulatory standards, and cross-disciplinary collaboration. Location: Malvern, PA, with some travel.
