Role Summary

Senior Automation Engineer involved in design and development of manufacturing processes and in supporting maintenance and reliability to ensure customers and patients have access to medicines when they need them. Working with Pfizer’s engineering team, you will help bring medicines to the world faster by imagining what’s possible and taking action. This role contributes to managing manufacturing information systems to improve manufacturing success rates and minimize downtime.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the completion of projects, manage own time on agreed targets, develop plans for own projects and leads small project teams.
  • Monitor, generate and complete the periodic review, validation master plan for the automation engineering program.
  • Demonstrate good planning, organizing, time management and team participation skills.
  • Responsible for routine and preventive maintenance work, ensure all the equipment and facilities work safely, efficiently and reliably.
  • Generate and develop standard operating procedures and system support.
  • Analyze operational process problems and recommend appropriate corrective and preventative actions.
  • Manage change control authoring and execution.
  • Participate in the site and network wide teams to provide cybersecurity alignment and direction.
  • Provide 24x7x365 support of our automation systems and perform automation activities for capital and non-capital projects.
  • Modify moderately complex to highly complex control logic that requires a degree of scientific and/or manufacturing process expertise.
  • Mentor and guide junior staff and serve as a technical trainer, whenever necessary.
  • Clearly communicate progress and issues to peers.

Qualifications

  • Required: Bachelor’s degree with at least 2 years of experience; OR a Master’s degree with 0+ years of experience; OR an Associate’s degree with 6 years of experience; OR a high school diploma (or equivalent) and 8 years of relevant experience.
  • Required: Experience with writing software test plans, user requirements, and system design documents.
  • Required: Experience with Industrial Control Systems such as Rockwell, Siemens, Wonderware, iFix.
  • Required: Strong knowledge of Computerized Systems, compliance regulations and standards.
  • Required: Teamwork spirit, good communication skills and training abilities.
  • Required: Excellent interpersonal effectiveness and communication skills (written and oral).
  • Required: Ability to learn new technologies and adapt to change.
  • Preferred: Relevant pharmaceutical experience.
  • Preferred: VMware and virtualization knowledge.
  • Preferred: Basic networking knowledge.
  • Preferred: Basic RESTful API knowledge.
  • Preferred: Database/Historian knowledge (SQL, AVEVA PI).
  • Preferred: Experience with batching systems and standards.
  • Preferred: MES integration and deployment.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree with at least 2 years of experience; OR Master’s degree with 0+ years of experience; OR Associate’s degree with 6 years of experience; OR high school diploma (or equivalent) with 8 years of relevant experience.

  • Physical demands: Office and plant environment; keyboarding, lifting, standing, bending, walking.
  • Non-standard Work Schedule, Travel Or Environment Requirements: Weekend and off hours work required, some overtime. Supporting 24/7 operation – on call coverage. Adhere to safe work practices. Some travel.
