Senior Associate Scientist, Process Development
Role Overview
- Assist in designing and executing studies in bacterial fermentation, viral propagation, and downstream processing to support development, validation, and transfer of manufacturing processes for vaccines for pets and livestock.
Responsibilities
- Apply scientific knowledge to drive timely progress of Technical Development projects.
- Independently execute protocols involving bacterial fermentation, viral propagation, mammalian cell culture, formulation, and downstream processing; generate methods under guidance of a qualified scientist.
- Maintain a safe, compliant, productive work environment.
- Train others under guidance of a lead scientist; educate self and others on complex issues.
- Present initial data interpretations to the lead scientist and suggest next steps.
- Demonstrate flexibility and high learning agility in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment.
- Perform general laboratory upkeep and maintenance.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant scientific discipline (e.g., Chemical Engineering, Microbiology, Immunology, Molecular Biology, Bioprocessing).
- 3+ years of relevant laboratory experience (or Master of Science in a relevant field).
- Strong verbal/written communication; experience operating and maintaining basic laboratory instrumentation.
- Legal authorization to be employed in the United States; no anticipated visa sponsorship (e.g., H-1B or TN).
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to quickly learn and adapt; passion for problem-solving.
- Downstream processing experience and related equipment.
- Experience handling biohazardous organisms.
- Familiarity with animal health product development and regulations (e.g., USDA, VMD).
