What You Will Achieve
- Support preclinical drug discovery efforts around obesity in the Internal Medicine Research Unit (IMRU).
- Design and execute experiments; analyze, interpret, and communicate results.
How You Will Achieve It (Responsibilities)
- Perform in vivo, ex vivo, and in vitro experiments.
- Conduct molecular biology experiments including transfection, gene expression analysis, immunostaining, ELISA, and Western blotting.
- Follow assay protocols; analyze and interpret data.
- Ensure compliance with laboratory safety and electronic notebook standards.
- Work effectively with peers to support projects.
- Identify/report experimental problems, troubleshoot causes, and implement corrections with supervisor guidance.
Qualifications
Must-Have
- Bachelorβs degree in biology, pharmacology, biochemistry, molecular biology, or related.
- 3+ years of lab experience (academia or industry).
- Comfortable working with rodents (handling, dosing).
- Familiarity with cell/molecular methods: cell culture, siRNA/plasmid transfection, lentivirus preparation/transduction, ELISA/Western blot, quantitative real-time PCR.
- Ability to use software for data analysis.
- Strong organization/planning; can work independently or in a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication.
- Creative/self-motivated; ability to analyze/troubleshoot experiments and review literature to formulate new approaches.
Nice-to-Have
- Experience with in vivo food intake/body weight or tissue collection; physical function measures (max force, treadmill).
- Knowledge of metabolism and pharmacology.
- Experience working in or collaborating with industry.

- Annual base salary: $68,600β$114,300; bonus target 7.5% of base; 401(k) with matching, paid time off, caregiver/parental and medical leave, and medical/prescription/dental/vision coverage.
