Position Summary
- Support process development, production, and characterization of early and late-stage viral vectors (lentiviral vectors and/or adeno-associated viruses) for engineered T cell manufacturing.
- Provide technical subject matter expertise for internal/external collaborators across tech transfer, process characterization, and pre-clinical/clinical process lifecycle management.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform hands-on upstream viral vector development/optimization (mammalian cell culture, stirred tank bioreactors, transient transfection); downstream experience (clarification, AEX chromatography, Tangential Flow Filtration) is a bonus.
- Support process and technology development for viral vector manufacturing platforms.
- Support late-phase development, including process characterization.
- Design, plan, execute, and analyze lab experiments using statistical design of experiment (DOE) principles.
- Maintain documentation in an electronic lab notebook.
- Summarize/present data and communicate progress.
- Author technical documents (protocols and internal development reports).
- Follow lab safety rules and practices.
Qualifications & Experience
- B.S. with 5+ years or M.S. with 2+ years of hands-on upstream experience (downstream is a plus).
- Ability to use DOE approaches; interpret results using statistical software (e.g., JMP).
- Independently motivated; multitask, problem-solve, train others on lab operations, and coordinate within a team.
- Strong interest in biological mechanisms of cell/gene therapy products and impact on patients.
- Clear oral presentation and technical writing skills.
Benefits (as stated)
- Health coverage (medical, pharmacy, dental, vision); wellbeing support; 401(k); disability and life insurance; other listed financial protections.
- Paid time off (flexible/unlimited for US exempt employees; or 160 hours annual paid vacation for certain Phoenix/Puerto Rico/Rayzebio employees), plus national holidays.
