Role Summary
Senior Associate Scientist – Flow Cytometry. Operate and maintain high-speed cell sorters and analyzers for a busy departmental core facility; perform cell sorting and data acquisition for scientific staff and assist in developing flow cytometric protocols. Based in Tarrytown, NY.
Responsibilities
- Independently operate multi-laser, high-speed spectral cell sorter and analyzers.
- Maintain, align, calibrate, and troubleshoot instruments for specific experimental requirements.
- Provide consultation, protocol design, data acquisition, and analysis/interpretation of flow cytometric experiments.
- Collaborate with field engineers and technical support; stay current with technologies to maintain expertise within the core facility.
- Analyze data using various flow cytometric software.
- May write standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Train users to operate analyzers.
- Work on instrument qualification.
Qualifications
- Required: Bachelor’s degree and 3–4 years of relevant experience; knowledge of flow cytometry principles and essential flow cytometric technical experience.
- Required: Exposure to a multi-laser, high-speed cell sorter and analyzer.
- Preferred: Willingness to grow and expand flow cytometric skillset; ability to perform duties that support scientific staff’s goals.
