Responsibilities:
- Prepare and run bench-scale bioreactors; build and autoclave bioreactor parts/assemblies; support bench operations including daily sampling/analytics, cleaning/maintenance, inoculation, run preparation, and troubleshooting.
- Perform mammalian cell culture work in an aseptic hood (cell passaging and cell banking).
- Maintain and troubleshoot bioreactor control systems, software, and analytical equipment; keep instruments and lab space clean/organized.
- Serve as team member or functional area lead for platform client early-stage (FIH) or technology development; may support process characterization (PC).
- Design, execute, and analyze statistically designed experiments (DOE) with supervision.
- Document best practices and technical results in ELNs, SOPs, and reports with minimal supervision.
- Work with vendors/manufacturers to develop, order, and troubleshoot prototypes.
- Assist with media and buffer preparation as needed.
- Potential weekend work and on-call for critical bioreactor runs.
- Other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
- BS in Engineering, Biochemistry, Biology (or related) with 2+ years industry experience, or MS with 0–2 years.
- Excellent attention to detail; able to stay organized while managing multiple tasks and data.
- Strong writing and documentation; communicate with project managers and SMEs.
- Self-motivated, action-oriented, flexible, eager to learn.
- Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and respond to alarms during off-hours.
Preferred/Pluses:
- Aseptic technique; small-scale mammalian cell culture.
- Upstream/downstream bioprocessing equipment, especially perfusion.
- Maintain/troubleshoot scientific or electronic equipment.
- Prepare cell culture media/buffers.
- DOE and statistical analysis; record-keeping (paper/e-labs).
- Data analysis tools (JMP, R, Python); understanding of cell biology/fluid dynamics/biotransport and circuits.
- cGMP/clean room experience.
