Role Summary

Senior Associate EHSS

Responsibilities

  • Applied knowledge and understanding of EHS principles and practices, safety engineering principles, regulatory standards, and requirements in context of business activities
  • Ability to take responsibility for several projects at one time with an emphasis on quality and organization
  • With oversight manage EHSS Change Management, EHSS safety engineering, EHS by deHS Sign and Pre-startup Safety Review and integration into projects and programs raising awareness and ensuring compliance with applicable safety codes, policies and regulations
  • Ensure designs or process changes conform to Amgen’s safety code compliance requirements, and environment, health and safety regulations and Amgen requirements in Operations small capital projects
  • Makes recommendations to EHSS and project team regarding potential safety engineering project impacts on environmental, health, and safety
  • Partners with clients to implement environmental, health and safety policies, practices, and requirements identified as part of design reviews or risk assessments
  • Provides information and communication materials to various worksites to aid with EHSS training, safety committee meetings, informational campaigns, initiatives

Qualifications

  • Basic Qualifications:
    • High school diploma / GED and 8 years of Industrial safety, safety engineering, mechanical, chemical or other engineering experience OR
    • Associate’s degree and 6 years of Industrial safety, safety engineering, mechanical, chemical or other engineering experience OR
    • Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of Industrial safety, safety engineering, mechanical, chemical or other engineering experience OR
    • Master’s degree
  • Preferred Qualifications:
    • Degree in chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, safety engineering, chemistry or other engineering life science areas
    • 2 or more years of experience in conducting safety engineering design review, safety code compliance review, fire life safety reviews, developing, and implementing environmental, health and safety programs for EHS management of change
    • Strong understanding of Chemical and Biological manufacturing and laboratory operations
    • Strong verbal & written communication skills, ability to communicate within departments, with scientists, engineers, and managers
