Senior Applications Developer

Role Summary

The Regeneron Genetics Center IT group is seeking an Application Developer to develop solutions for one of the world's most comprehensive genetic databases. You'll tackle technical challenges at the intersection of big data, cloud computing, and AI—creating tools that help scientists explore billions of genetic data points and accelerate medical breakthroughs.

Responsibilities

• Engineer intelligent data pipelines using TypeScript, Python, and AWS that process massive genetic datasets with speed and precision
• Optimize for performance at scale‚Äîcraft sophisticated SQL queries, fine-tune indexes, implement smart caching, and eliminate bottlenecks
• Leverage AI-powered development tools to supercharge your productivity and unlock innovative approaches to complex problems
• Pioneer AI proof-of-concepts that could revolutionize genetic data analysis
• Build cloud-native solutions with AWS services like Athena, Redshift, Aurora, Lambda, and ECS
• Collaborate directly with researchers to transform their scientific questions into elegant technical solutions
• Design ETL processes that efficiently transform raw genetic data into research-ready insights
• Deploy with confidence‚Äîrigorously test and benchmark everything to ensure performance under real-world conditions

Qualifications

• Required: Bachelor's Degree or higher with at least 4 years of relevant IT experience building cloud-native applications
• Required: Hands-on experience with Python, TypeScript, Docker, ETL orchestration, PostgreSQL
