Role Summary
The Sr. Analyst, Data Science transforms complex, high-volume data into actionable insights that support informed decision-making across the organization. Applying advanced statistical methods, machine learning, and rigorous analytical approaches, this role partners with product, engineering, marketing, and operations to address high-impact business questions. The focus is on producing reliable, decision-ready analyses that connect data to measurable outcomes and guide strategic execution. Please note that this position can be based in San Diego, CA OR San Francisco, CA OR Princeton, NJ. Acadia's hybrid model requires this role to work in our office three days per week on average. Must be able and willing to travel on occasion.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement predictive models and machine learning algorithms to solve complex business problems
- Analyze large, complex datasets to uncover trends, patterns, and opportunities for optimization, including Medical Claims, Procedure, HUB, SP, SD, LTC and Prescription data sets
- Ensure data accuracy and integrity by performing regular system audits and resolving discrepancies to maintain reliable datasets for analytics and decision-making
- Conduct A/B tests, statistical analyses, and causal inference to evaluate business initiatives and product changes
- Translate business needs into data requirements and collaborate with data engineering to ensure high-quality data availability
- Communicate data-driven insights and recommendations clearly and effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Develop dashboards and data visualizations to monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and business health
- Stay current with industry trends, tools, and best practices in data science and analytics
- Other responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelorβs degree in Statistics, Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Economics or a related field. Targeting 3 years of progressively responsible experience in data science or an advanced analytics role, preferably in a pharmaceutical or biotech environment. An equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be considered.
Skills
- Proficiency in Python or R for data analysis and modeling
- Strong SQL and Snowflake skills and experience working with large-scale data systems
- Experience with statistical modeling, machine learning, and A/B testing methodologies
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure
- Familiarity with data visualization tools like Tableau, Power BI, or Looker
- Knowledge of modern ML frameworks (e.g., scikit-learn, XGBoost, TensorFlow)
- Background in a specific domain (e.g., fintech, e-commerce, healthcare) is a plus
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment
- Must be able and willing to travel on occasion
