Responsibilities:
- Partner with R&D stakeholders to identify, scope, prioritize, and deliver high-value AI use cases across scientific workflows, knowledge access, decision support, and drug discovery.
- Own client/team relationships; translate needs into technical roadmaps and deliverables.
- Build AI-enabled applications, assistants, automations, and data products to improve scientific productivity.
- Lead larger drug discovery AI initiatives (model-driven understanding, prediction, prioritization).
- Evaluate/prototype and apply frontier models, agent frameworks, and AI engineering tools to research problems.
- Support novel internal AI capabilities (domain-adapted models, specialized workflows, foundation-model efforts as appropriate).
- Connect AI systems to internal data/documents/research infrastructure; develop and own technical roadmaps; deploy/monitor/improve in approved environments.
- Mentor junior engineers; help define delivery/quality/guardrails and AI-native ways of working.
Required Qualifications:
- BS/MS/PhD in CS, ML, Engineering, Computational Biology/Bioinformatics, or related field.
- 5+ years in software engineering, ML engineering, applied AI, or data-intensive engineering.
- Strong CS fundamentals; strong Python; ability to build prototypes quickly.
- Hands-on experience delivering AI-enabled applications/tools in production/near-production.
- Familiarity with LLM APIs, coding agents, AI-assisted development; comfort using Claude Code/Codex.
- Up-to-date agentic coding/frontier AI tooling knowledge.
- Independent stakeholder collaboration; strong communication with scientific teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Mentoring experience.
- Frontier AI/model development or applied ML interest/experience.
- Life sciences/scientific or data-intensive problem experience; research/enterprise tool-building experience.
