Role Summary
Senior/Advanced Lung Disease Specialist in the Kansas City, MO area responsible for maintaining and increasing sales of United Therapeutics products, with a primary focus on Tyvaso. Manage a defined territory of targeted physicians and key accounts, executing sales/marketing strategies and serving as an educational resource for physicians and other healthcare professionals involved in PH-ILD and IPF. The role requires significant travel and cross-functional collaboration to expand awareness and access to UT therapies.
Responsibilities
- Promote marketed products according to corporate guidance in an assigned geographic territory and designated accounts to interface with the PH-ILD and IPF community
- Build and maintain professional relationships with physicians and other healthcare professionals (MDs, NPs, PAs, RNs) and specialty distributor staff to educate on UT products, including Tyvaso
- Analyze sales reports and develop and implement business plans to increase sales in key accounts, achieving or exceeding target sales goals
- Coordinate activities with other field-based team members to optimize selling, education and support efforts
- Utilize available resources to drive sales with key customers
- Develop and maintain expert knowledge of disease state, product, and competitive landscape
- Utilize the sales force automation system to maximize territory effectiveness and record-keeping
- Complete all UT administrative requirements in a timely manner (expense reports, call reporting) in line with UT guidelines
- Adhere to corporate, external regulatory, and UT guidelines related to promotion of UT products
- Attend local, regional, and national PH-ILD and IPF symposia and conferences to educate stakeholders and stay current on treatment trends
- Attend patient support group meetings and participate in project teams with sales and marketing to increase awareness
Qualifications
- Required: Bachelor's Degree (preferably in nursing or life science) or equivalent experience
- Required: 6+ years of experience selling pharmaceutical therapies or 6+ years healthcare/nursing experience with advanced lung disease
- Required: 2+ years of experience with cardiovascular and/or pulmonary disease therapeutics
- Required: Expertise in cardiovascular and/or pulmonary disease therapeutic areas
- Required: Strong leadership and outstanding communication skills
- Required: Demonstrated decision-making ability, planning and interpersonal skills
- Required: Develop and maintain complete knowledge of UT products and services
- Required: Valid driver's license in good standing
- Preferred: 2+ years of experience in specialty pharmaceutical/biotech sales
- Preferred: 2+ years of PH-ILD and/or IPF sales
- Preferred: 2+ years of experience selling within institutional or major teaching centers environment
- Senior track (for Senior ALD Specialist): 8+ years of pharmaceutical sales experience to specialty physicians
- Senior track (for Senior ALD Specialist): 4+ years of experience in specialty pharmaceutical/biotech sales
- Senior track (for Senior ALD Specialist): 4+ years selling within institutional or major teaching centers environment
- Senior track (for Senior ALD Specialist): 2+ years of experience with cardiovascular and/or pulmonary therapeutics
- Senior track (for Senior ALD Specialist): 1+ year of documented training/workshops facilitation with new hires/POA/Regional Meetings (Internal UT Employees Only)
- Senior track (for Senior ALD Specialist): 2+ years as a Cardiopulmonary Specialist with a history of exceeding sales targets
- Senior track (for Senior ALD Specialist): Track record of selling excellence across multiple regions
- Senior track (for Senior ALD Specialist): Preferred: 2+ years of selling pharmaceutical products distributed through specialty pharmacies
- Senior track (for Senior ALD Specialist): Preferred: 2+ years of PH-ILD and/or IPF sales
Education
- Bachelorβs Degree (preferably in nursing or life science), or equivalent experience
Skills
- Clinical acumen and ability to communicate sophisticated scientific data
- Strong relationship-building and communication skills with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals
- Analytical ability to interpret sales data and develop business plans

Additional Requirements
- Location: Remote within the Kansas City, MO area; ideal candidates reside in the territory
- Travel: 75-80% travel required, including face-to-face customer interactions, UT offices, and national events
