Role Summary
Senior/Advanced Lung Disease Sales Specialist (South Boston, MA) responsible for maintaining and increasing sales of United Therapeutics products with primary focus on Tyvaso, within a defined territory of PH-ILD and IPF physicians and key accounts. Serves as an educational resource for physicians and other healthcare professionals treating PH-ILD and IPF, and drives territory strategy through sales and marketing execution.
Responsibilities
- Promote marketed products according to corporate guidance in an assigned geographic territory and designated accounts to actively interface with the PH-ILD and IPF community.
- Build and maintain professional relationships with MDs, NPs, PAs, RNs, and specialty distributor staff to ensure maximal product messaging and education on assigned UT products, including Tyvaso.
- Analyze sales reports and develop and implement business plans to increase business and drive sales in key accounts, achieving or exceeding target sales goals.
- Coordinate activities with other field-based team members to optimize selling, education and support efforts.
- Appropriately and effectively utilize available resources to drive sales with key customers.
- Develop and maintain expert knowledge of disease state, product, and competitive landscape.
- Utilize sales force automation system to maximize territory effectiveness and record-keeping.
- Complete all UT administrative requirements in a timely manner, including expense reports and call reporting, in compliance with UT Commercial Compliance Guidelines.
- Adhere to corporate, external regulatory, and UT guidelines related to the promotion of our products.
- Attend local/regional/national PH-ILD and IPF symposia and conferences to provide education and promotion support to key stakeholders and to stay current on treatment trends.
- Attend patient support group meetings and remain current with PH-ILD/IPF communities; participate in project teams with sales and marketing to establish programs and resources that increase sales and awareness.
- Territory includes Boston, South Boston, MA, and Providence, RI.
Qualifications
- Required: Bachelor’s Degree (preferably in nursing or life science) or equivalent experience.
- Required: 6+ years of experience selling pharmaceutical therapies or similar products to specialty physicians, nurses and other healthcare professionals, or 6+ years of healthcare/nursing experience with advanced lung disease.
- Required: 2+ years of experience with Cardiovascular and/or Pulmonary Disease Therapeutics areas.
- Required: Expertise in Cardiovascular and/or Pulmonary Disease therapeutic area.
- Required: Strong leader with proven selling record and outstanding communication skills.
- Required: Demonstrated decision-making ability, planning and interpersonal skills.
- Required: Develop and maintain complete knowledge of UT products and services.
- Required: Valid Driver’s License in good standing.
- Preferred: 2+ years of experience in specialty pharmaceutical/biotech sales.
- Preferred: 2+ years of PH-ILD and/or IPF sales.
- Preferred: 2+ years of experience selling within institutional or major teaching centers environment.
- Required (Senior ALD Specialist): 8+ years of experience selling pharmaceutical therapies or similar products to specialty physicians, nurses and other healthcare professionals.
- Required (Senior ALD Specialist): 4+ years of experience in specialty pharmaceutical/biotech sales.
- Required (Senior ALD Specialist): 4+ years of experience selling within the institutional or major teaching centers environment.
- Required (Senior ALD Specialist): 2+ years of experience with Cardiovascular and/or Pulmonary Disease Therapeutics areas.
- Required (Senior ALD Specialist): 1+ year of documented experience facilitating training workshops with new hires and/or colleagues at POA/Regional Meetings (Internal UT Employees Only).
- Required (Senior ALD Specialist): 2+ years of experience as a Cardiopulmonary Specialist, consistently exceeding sales targets and exhibiting UT’s core competencies.
- Required (Senior ALD Specialist): Track record of selling excellence across multiple regions.
- Required (Senior ALD Specialist): Expertise in Cardiovascular and/or Pulmonary Disease therapeutic area.
- Required (Senior ALD Specialist): Strong leader with proven selling record and outstanding communication skills.
- Required (Senior ALD Specialist): Demonstrated decision-making ability, planning and interpersonal skills.
- Required (Senior ALD Specialist): Valid Driver’s License in good standing.
- Preferred (Senior ALD Specialist): 2+ years of experience selling pharmaceutical products distributed through specialty pharmacies.
- Preferred (Senior ALD Specialist): 2+ years of experience in PH-ILD and/or IPF sales.
Additional Requirements
- Position is remote within the Boston, Massachusetts area with 75-80% travel to reach territory for direct customer interaction, UT offices, and national events and conferences. Travel by motor vehicle and/or airplane is required.
- Final interviews may be conducted in person at select locations; travel arrangements coordinated by the company.
