Role Summary

Senior Accountant at Janux Therapeutics supporting core accounting activities across the organization, including clinical and research programs. This role prepares monthly accruals, journal entries, and balance sheet reconciliations, and partners cross-functionally with Clinical Operations, Legal, and other internal stakeholders to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting. The position reports to the Accounting Manager and adheres to GAAP, SOX, and company policies and procedures. Location: On-site in San Diego, CA.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare accurate and timely monthly journal entries and balance sheet account reconciliations, with primary ownership over clinical trial related accruals, including investigator fees, CROs, consultants, and pass-through costs.
  • Partner with Clinical Operations and contract owners to evaluate services rendered and ensure accurate month-end and quarter-end cutoff.
  • Assess completeness of contracts considered within accounting on a quarterly basis via confirmations from contract owners.
  • Assist with purchase order creation, tracking, and monitoring to ensure alignment with approved budgets and contractual terms.
  • Prepare detailed schedules and supporting documentation for quarterly and annual financial reviews and audits.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and automation, particularly related to clinical accruals, investigator tracking, and reporting.
  • Complete special projects as required and assigned.
  • Maintain the integrity of financial systems.
  • Ensure accuracy and compliance with US GAAP, SOX, and company policies and procedures.

Qualifications

  • Required: Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field with 5 years of general accounting experience. Equivalent combination of relevant education and applicable job experience may be considered.
  • Preferred: Biotech industry experience strongly preferred.
  • Required: Must be familiar with SOX compliance.
  • Preferred: Experience with NetSuite.
  • Required: Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office Suite with intermediate to advanced Excel skills.
  • Required: Excellent attention to detail and the ability to perform functions with high level of accuracy with minimum supervision.
