Role Summary
Location: New Haven (Northeast Preferred). The Senior Accountant will manage the monthly close, financial reporting, and coordination with external auditors to maintain Invivyd’s effective control environment. The role includes mentorship from a team with both operational and public accounting backgrounds and opportunities for professional growth in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Manager, Accounting & Reporting with research of accounting literature and apply technical U.S. GAAP standards to complex business transactions
- Monitor compliance with evolving accounting guidance, and assist with the implementation of new accounting pronouncements
- Understand core processes and work cross-functionally to track financial milestones, projects, and partnerships
- Assist with the preparation and issuance of SEC financial filings (i.e. Form 10-K, Form 10-Q) and other filings
- Update financial statements, footnotes, and MD&A using Active Disclosure software
- Manage the financial statement tie-out process
- Assist with the quarterly financial review and year-end financial audit process, including internal control testing
- Assist with designated areas of the monthly close process (i.e. R&D accruals, equity & stock compensation, leases), including journal entry and account reconciliation preparation
- Lead and prepare materials related to monthly R&D accrual meetings with functional teams and third-party vendors
- Partner with the commercial team and play a key role in commercial accounting, including revenue, accounts receivable, gross-to-net, inventory and other ad hoc projects
- Support the development and maintenance of an effective system of internal controls and compliance with Section 404 of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act
- Support the accounting/finance team with various analyses and ad hoc projects
Qualifications
- Required: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
- Preferred: CPA license
- Required: 3-5 years’ experience, preferably with a background in public accounting
- Preferred: Previous small- to mid-sized public biotech/pharmaceutical company experience is a plus
- Required: Strong knowledge of fundamental accounting principles, including US GAAP and Sarbanes-Oxley requirements, and financial reporting processes
- Required: Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with others
- Required: Ability to prioritize a varying degree of tasks in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Required: Ability to maintain a high level of integrity, confidentiality, and professional skepticism
