Role Summary

Senior Accountant at Maravai LifeSciences. Reporting to the Manager, Equity & Stock Plan Administration, the Senior Accountant will support revenue accounting, stock administration, payroll accounting, and technical accounting functions, assist with SEC reporting, month-end close, and ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and internal controls.

Responsibilities

  • Timely completion of the month-end process, including preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules for payroll, bonus, and related benefit accounts.
  • Calculate and reconcile bonus accruals and non-controlling interest.
  • Administer the Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP), including enrollments, purchases, participant changes, terminations, withdrawals, and maintaining the Certent ESPP platform.
  • Process equity transactions, including preparation and processing of equity awards, vesting, and release of restricted stock units.
  • Support revenue accounting functions, including technical review of new revenue contracts and monthly calculations of over-time revenue recognition.
  • Assist with the preparation and population of supporting schedules used in interim and annual SEC filings, including Form 10-Q, 10-K, financial footnotes, and MD&A disclosures in accordance with U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting requirements.
  • Prepare supporting schedules and tie-outs for quarterly earnings materials to ensure accuracy and consistency.
  • Assist with research on accounting literature related to new business initiatives, contracts, and transactions, and prepare accounting memos for significant transactions (e.g., mergers and acquisitions, leases, debt, revenue recognition).
  • Assist in analyzing new and proposed FASB standards and their impact on the company.
  • Work proactively with external auditors to support timely closure of accounting matters and ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley controls.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with HR, Payroll, Tax, Legal, Operations, and Finance teams to ensure alignment and accurate financial reporting.
  • Identify and support continuous improvements to systems, processes, and internal controls.
  • Assist with ad hoc projects and prepare responses to various requests for information.

Qualifications

  • Bachelorβ€šΓ„Γ΄s degree in Accounting required.
  • CPA required
  • Public accounting experience required
  • Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience
  • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and FASB codification.
  • Experience with ASC 606 revenue recognition required.
  • Experience with equity accounting and stock-based compensation preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite required.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail, analytical abilities, and project management skills.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive employee and company information.
  • High energy, intellectually curious, and capable of managing multiple deliverables in a fast-paced environment.
