Position Description
Sr Scientist supporting the full lifecycle of cell line banking: preparation, cryopreservation, storage, inventory, and distribution. Manages domestic/international shipments; maintains cell line cultures; collaborates to keep operations safe, efficient, and compliant.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Perform cell line banking activities: preparation, cryopreservation, accurate record-keeping, storage, and dispensing to ensure long-term availability/integrity.
- Maintain suspension and adherent cell line cultures; apply best practices and troubleshoot technical issues.
- Coordinate domestic/international cell line shipments; ensure packaging standards, temperature controls, timelines, and shipment requirements.
- Maintain complete, accurate, compliant Electronic Laboratory Notebook (ELN) records.
- Manage cell line inventory (data entry) and contribute to system improvements for increased efficiency.
- Anticipate operational/technical challenges and proactively develop solutions.
- Collaborate with scientists, logistics, and stakeholders to resolve workflow/shipping issues.
- Maintain a clean, safe, well-supplied lab; speak up on concerns and complete corrective actions.
- Document processes clearly for reproducibility, compliance, and knowledge sharing.
- Communicate clearly with colleagues and cross-functional teams.
Basic Qualifications
- BA/BS/MS in biology, cell biology, molecular biology, or related field plus 2–5 years recent experience with mammalian cell culture.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States full-time; Lilly does not sponsor visas/work authorization.
Additional Preferences
- Experience managing preparation/shipment of cell lines/cell cultures.
- ELN record-keeping experience.
- Basic tissue culture techniques (propagation, cryo-preservation, maintenance).
- Strong organization, communication, teamwork.
