Responsibilities:
- Design made-to-order RNAscope probes for target sequences using proprietary software
- Answer technical inquiries related to target probe design and New Probe Requests (NPR)
- Review NPR forms to ensure accurate and efficient probe designs
- Use Linux command-line tools for sequence alignments (BLAST/BLAT), probe selection, and specificity
- Provide probe product training and troubleshooting via phone and email
- Serve as primary customer contact for technical issues and scientific consultation (research use only)
- Collaborate with Commercial and Marketing teams to meet customer needs
- Monitor SalesForce queue/inbox/phone to ensure timely customer service and issue resolution
- Contribute to new product development and lab-based introductions with R&D teams
- Develop the Probe Design knowledgebase
- Present scientific and product updates to customers and internal teams
Qualifications:
- PhD with 4+ years of research experience in molecular biology, bioinformatics/computational biology, or related field
Skills/Experience:
- In-depth knowledge of genes and sequences and RNA biology
- Familiar with bioinformatics tools (Python, R, or equivalent) and a programming language (C/C++, Java)
- Experience with biological databases and bioinformatics software tools
- Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams; strong experimental design/cell and molecular techniques
- Strong troubleshooting skills for complex biological assays; self-directed and excellent communication/presentation/teaching
- 2+ years biotech/biopharma R&D; 2+ years with Linux and Python/Perl (or other languages)
- 2+ years with NGS platforms/tools; prior probe design across multiple species
- Experience with sequence analysis (database searches, multiple sequence alignment)
- Customer-facing experience
