About The Role
Supports the design, synthesis and characterization of novel peptides to discover next-generation peptide-based therapeutics. Applies synthetic working knowledge and design and synthetic skills to enable progress in peptide-related drug discovery.
Your Contributions (include, but are not limited to)
- Supports the synthesis, purification and characterization of peptides, small proteins and chemically-modified analogs using state-of-the-art synthesis, purification, analytical and biophysical techniques
- Participates in projects and teams toward agreed-upon goals, working toward candidate peptide nomination
- Performs independent, data-driven optimization of peptide SAR
- Aids in lab setup, instrument purchase, installation and ongoing lab operations
- Communicates scientific rationale, results and interpretation at project, team and departmental meetings, contributing to strategic discussions
- Collaborates and shares expertise with colleagues
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned
Requirements
- BS/BA in chemistry (or closely related) and 2+ yearsβ experience in peptide synthesis, purification, and characterization with complex synthetic strategies and modern peptide chemistry techniques
OR
- MS/MA in chemistry (or closely related) and some similar experience
OR
- PhD (or equivalent) in chemistry (or closely related) preferred and some similar experience
- Proficiency in modern peptide synthesis, purification and analysis; capable of immediate independent laboratory work on solid- and solution-phase chemistry
- Strong understanding of peptide structure and associated biophysical techniques to assess structure, stability and behavior in solution
- Demonstrated knowledge with bioconjugation and time-extension strategies for peptides
- Strong interpersonal skills and oral/written communication abilities
- Ability to assimilate data and research findings outside of Neurocrine for new scientific projects
- Good track record in peptide technologies and hit discovery
Compensation & Benefits (as stated)
- Annual base salary: $89,800.00β$123,000.00
- Annual bonus: target 20% of earned base salary; eligible for equity-based long-term incentive program
