Position Responsibilities:
- Spend a majority of time in the lab independently executing experiments and recording detailed ELN entries.
- Optimize base ex vivo editing platform; implement new technologies for continuous improvement and next-gen in vivo platform development (e.g., lipid nanoparticles).
- Routinely generate CAR-T cells including non-viral gene editing, expansion, and cryopreservation of engineered cells.
- Characterize engineered CAR-T cells: phenotypic analysis via flow cytometry, in vitro cytotoxicity assays (e.g., Incucyte), and genomic DNA extraction for downstream molecular analysis.
- Independently analyze and interpret experimental data (experience with large/complex datasets a plus).
- Troubleshoot routine problems and initiate continuous improvement/new approaches/technologies.
- Communicate and align with team members to achieve results and support cross-functional activities.
- Generate key data supporting decisions that impact the larger team.
- Present findings in multidisciplinary meetings, clearly explaining complex scientific concepts and key messages.
- May represent the department/team on program/project teams or sub-teams.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years academic and/or industry experience; OR
- Master’s degree with 3+ years academic and/or industry experience; OR
- Ph.D. or equivalent advanced degree in the Life Sciences (no experience necessary).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Hands-on gene editing experience (CRISPR/Prime editing preferred).
- Experience with in vivo non-viral gene delivery platforms (including non-cell therapy applications).
- Strong molecular biology knowledge; experience with DNA design tools (e.g., Benchling, Geneious).
- Experience culturing T cells (aseptic technique, T cell activation, maintenance of primary cell cultures).
- Multi-color flow cytometry experience (complex panel design and multi-parameter analysis, FlowJo).
- Ability to multi-task, independently organize time, develop timelines, and deliver results.
- Teamwork in fast-paced, ever-changing environments.
- Detail-oriented; excellent verbal/written communication and careful documentation (prior ELN experience a plus).
