Position Summary
The primary purpose of this position is to perform laboratory experiments for the physicochemical characterization and conjugation of protein reagents for use across multiple technology platforms, including Immunoassays, flow cytometry, IHC, and LCMS. Collaborate and communicate across the organization to assure on-time delivery of high-quality characterized materials.
Key Responsibilities
- Independently design, execute, and analyze LCMS, SEC and other experiments to assess physicochemical properties of antibody and non-antibody protein reagents.
- Develop, validate, and implement quantitative and qualitative assays using LC-MS, SEC-RI, Uv-Vis with minimal guidance.
- Independently design and execute method development experiments for bioconjugations of antibodies and proteins.
- Refine characterization protocols; interpret results, plan next steps, compile data summaries, and present results to stakeholders.
- Provide oversight of experimental design and data review for junior staff.
- Assist in scientific collaborations/contracted research; collaborate with internal stakeholders; serve as a technical point of contact.
- May lead innovation projects; troubleshoot instrument problems/malfunctions.
- Maintain required training, notebooks, and documentation; achieve objectives consistent with BMS Behaviors.
- Lead or contribute to writing and presentation of findings (posters, publications, oral presentations).
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree + 4+ years related industry experience; Master’s + 2+ years; Ph.D. (0+ years).
- Operational/theoretical understanding of mass spectrometry, size exclusion chromatography, and reverse phase chromatography.
- Basic understanding of protein conjugation chemistry (experience a plus).
- Proficient scientific writing; good verbal communication; ability to independently interpret and deliver results.
- Ability to work across functions with internal/external stakeholders; excellent problem-solving skills.
