Scientist II (LNP)
Responsibilities:
- Design, formulate, and optimize novel lipid nanoparticle (LNP) compositions via different production methods and scale.
- Perform analytical characterization of nanoparticles (size, zeta potential, morphology, payload and lipid quantification, encapsulation efficiency, etc.).
- Develop and execute bioconjugation strategies to functionalize LNP surfaces with targeting ligands.
- Analyze, interpret, and present complex experimental data to team/company.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to evaluate formulation performance, toxicity, and efficacy.
- Stay current with scientific literature, troubleshoot technical challenges, and evaluate new technologies.
- Maintain ELNs; contribute to technical reports and regulatory filings.
- Collaborate with IP counsel on patent applications/prosecutions.
Minimum Qualifications:
- PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or related field with 2–5 years relevant experience; or non-PhD with 10–12+ years relevant experience.
- Deep, hands-on LNP (or similar non-viral) formulation experience.
- Experience encapsulating nucleic acids and using associated analytics.
- Bioconjugation chemistry; protein modification and purification.
- Proficiency in nanoparticle characterization; independent experiment design.
- Strong communication and collaborative, team-oriented mindset.
Preferred Qualifications:
- LNP process development, scale-up, and stability testing.
- HPLC/UPLC for lipid and payload analysis.
- Familiarity with in vivo delivery models.
- Fast-paced biotech/pharma experience.
- Design of Experiments (DoE) knowledge.
Benefits:
- Base pay range: $130,000–$140,000+; bonus, equity, and benefits.
Note: Manufacturing and lab-based positions are fully on-site.
