Purpose:
AbbVie’s CAR-T Biology team in South San Francisco seeks a Scientist II to support development of in vivo CAR-T platforms from concept through preclinical development, at the intersection of synthetic biology and immune modulation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and execute in vitro assays to evaluate CAR-T biology (cytotoxicity, T-cell effector function, immune cell phenotyping).
- Independently establish, track, and deliver project milestones and experimental timelines aligned to program objectives; adapt as scientific needs evolve.
- Organize, analyze, and synthesize complex scientific data; communicate strategies, results, and interpretations via presentations and scientific reports.
- Maintain comprehensive, well-documented records in an Electronic Lab Notebook (ELN).
Qualifications:
- BS (typically 7+ years) or MS (typically 5+ years) in immunology, cell and molecular biology, or related field.
- Ability to independently design, perform, and interpret key experiments; quickly learn new techniques; manage multiple tasks and deadlines; strong scientific writing and verbal communication.
- Experience in CAR construct design, CAR-T production, and T cell function evaluation.
- Deep expertise in primary T cell isolation, activation, transduction, cytotoxicity, proliferation, cytokine profiling, multi-color flow cytometry, and immunological assays (e.g., ELISA, Luminex, cytotoxicity assays).
- Plus: cell-based in vitro assay development and semi-automated liquid handling systems for high-throughput workflows.
