AbbVie’s Gastrointestinal (GI)/Immunology Discovery Research group is seeking a highly motivated, experienced in vivo and in vitro pharmacologist to advance therapeutics for inflammatory GI disorders and understand pharmacodynamic effects using GI-relevant in vitro and in vivo assays.

Major Responsibilities:
- Perform laboratory research and method development with minimal direction
- Execute discovery screening funnels for novel test articles
- Design, execute, and analyze in vivo pharmacology studies in colitis or other GI mouse models
- Prepare and execute experiments with human blood or intestinal tissue
- Formulate conclusions and design follow-on experiments based on multidisciplinary data
- Serve as primary author of regulatory documents
- Adhere to corporate standards for safety, materials handling, controlled drugs/radioactive compounds, and animal care

Qualifications:
- BS (typically 7 years) or MS (typically 5 years)
- Prior technical experience required: IBD mouse models, humanized mice, biologics screening, and handling human tissue
- Experience with in vitro and in vivo cell killing endpoints (preferred)
- Primary cell culture experience (preferred)
- Experience with ex vivo intestinal tissue assays
- Knowledge of GI physiology and inflammation
- Proficient in in vivo techniques (mouse restraint; PO/RO/IP dosing; rodent necropsy); experience with colitis or humanized mouse models required
- Technical skills: RT-qPCR, Western blot, multi-parameter flow cytometry
- Ability to learn new experimental techniques
- Strong scientific writing and verbal communication (publications/conference presentations)
