Role Summary

Scientist I, Toxicology will contribute to non-clinical safety assessment efforts in Wave Life Sciences' Investigative Toxicology group. Based in Lexington, Massachusetts, the role supports the safety evaluation of the PRISM RNA medicines platform by developing cellular and molecular assays, analyzing data, and presenting findings to cross-functional project teams. The successful candidate will work both independently and collaboratively to deliver reliable, high-quality safety data while expanding cellular and molecular biology capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining and culturing mammalian cell lines and primary cells.
  • Develop, optimize, and execute cellular and biochemical assays to evaluate oligonucleotide associated toxicities using various techniques including immunoassays (eg. ELISA, Luminex), cytotoxicity assays, and RT-qPCR.
  • Analyze, interpret, and present data to various teams.
  • Work cross-functionally with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Maintain accurate electronic lab notebook.
  • Author technical documents, e.g. Standard Operating Procedures, data summary reports and assay procedures.

Qualifications

  • Required: A MS degree and 3+ years of experience or a BS degree and 5+ years of experience in cell and molecular biology or related field.
  • Required: Background in developing assays for mechanistic understanding and/or screening applications.
  • Required: Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively in a dynamic team-oriented environment.
  • Required: Excellent organizational skills/ability to prioritize and deliver in timely fashion.
  • Required: Self-motivated. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Preferred: Industry experience.

  • Broad scientific knowledge in immunoassays.
  • Proficient in various scientific techniques such as Luminex, ELISA, cytotoxicity assays, and RT-qPCR.
