Role Summary

Scientist II, Purification Process Design, based in Redmond, WA. Reports to the Principal Scientist, Purification Process Design. This role focuses on purification process development for biotherapeutics manufacturing, driving impactful projects, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to explore new possibilities and solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Dive deep into purification process development, always looking for ways to improve and innovate.
  • Lead development of purification processes for biotherapeutics manufacturing
  • Perform small and pilot scale purification processes for biotherapeutics manufacturing
  • Transfer processes to clinical and commercial manufacturing facilities
  • Technology development to reduce the cost and improve the efficiency of purification processes
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to explore new possibilities and solutions.
  • Regularly share your findings, ideas, and solutions in both team settings and presentations.
  • Ensure that curiosity-driven questions and exploration lead to measurable, impactful results.

Qualifications

  • A curious problem-solver with a passion for learning and growing in a dynamic environment.
  • BS or MS degree in Engineering, Biochemistry, or related field and 7+ years of experience or Ph.D and some relevant experience.
  • Knowledgeable in chromatography and filtration theory, downstream development strategy, and process scale-up/transfer
  • Experience with chromatography operations, including operating AKTA systems
  • Experience with filtration operation, including executing bench-scale dead-end filtration, viral filtration, UF/DF, and depth filtration
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
