Role Summary
Scientist I, Molecular Imaging.
Responsibilities
Provide experimental support for preclinical imaging studies (for PET and MRI) in rodents and large animals, including formulation and administration of radiotracer/contrast agent/compound, image data acquisition, blood sampling, metabolite analysis, fasting, animal setup and monitoring for and during imaging.
Serve as a liaison between imaging team and comparative medicine regarding animal health and study coordination.
Operate state of the art imaging systems, including a Mediso LFER 150 PET/CT, a Mediso Nanoscan, a Siemens Inveon PET/CT, and two Bruker MRI systems.
Ensure optimal functioning of imaging equipment and serve as the liaison with vendors to facilitate instrument repair and preventative maintenance.
Perform analysis of imaging data using specialized imaging software.
Conduct and interpret literature searches to aid in the understanding and improvement of imaging studies.
Execute and interpret experiments to answer scientific questions.
Understand objectives of projects and able to readily adapt and modify experimental plans as needed.
Learn, understand, and master new experimental techniques.
Write and implement high quality study protocols.
Set and meet experimental timelines.
Contribute to writing of publications, presentations, and patents.
Qualifications
Required qualifications:
Bachelorโรรดs with 5 or more years of experience or masterโรรดs with 2 or more years of experience.
Pharmaceutical industry experience preferred.
Demonstrated experience with animal handling and setup for imaging of rodents and large animals.
Experience with anesthesia techniques and animal health monitoring.
Experience with ECG and EEG.
Experience with intracranial surgery and various dosing techniques (IV, IM, SC, OP, IP, etc).
Experience with working on a HPLC and conducting metabolite analysis.
Experience conducting biodistribution studies.
Demonstrated experience in molecular imaging.
Willingness and ability to work with radioactivity.
Able to multitask and work within given timelines.
Demonstrated scientific writing skills and strong verbal communication skills.
