Role Summary
Scientist - Cytometry & Imaging Sciences will calibrate and operate multiparameter flow cytometers (including cell sorters), microscopes and related imaging platforms, and will teach others while developing additional relevant skills. The role requires maintaining biosafety in a level 2+ laboratory and driving risk assessments for new activities.
Responsibilities
- Operate analytical flow cytometry analyzers and sorters with primary emphasis; maintain cell imaging platforms as a secondary emphasis; identify instrument problems, perform basic troubleshooting/remediation, and oversee field engineer remediation when required.
- Compile high-complexity multiparameter fluorophore panels for legacy and full-spectrum flow cytometers to maximize signal while minimizing fluorescence spillover.
- Guide/train others on facility use and maintain personal accountability for prioritized projects.
- Work in a biosafety level 2+ laboratory, maintain laboratory safety, and initiate/complete risk assessments for new activities.
Qualifications
- Required: Doctorate degree (PhD) OR PharmD OR MD preferably with Cytometry experience, or Masterโs degree with 2+ years of Cytometry experience, or Bachelorโs degree with 4+ years of Cytometry experience.
- Preferred: Education in the life sciences; prior experience in a biopharmaceutical company or academic projects with a biopharmaceutical sponsor; good documentation practices and scientific conduct as defined by SOPs; ability to leverage AI/ML analytical platforms and work in a team with data scientists; knowledge of integrating flow & imaging cytometry with adjacent single-cell technologies (e.g., RNA seq, CRISPR screens).
Skills
- Flow cytometry and cell imaging platforms operation
- Panel design and fluorophore optimization
- Training and mentoring colleagues
- Risk assessment and biosafety practices
- Data analysis and collaboration with data scientists; basic familiarity with AI/ML tools
