Role Summary

Calibrate and operate multiparameter flow cytometers (including cell sorters), microscopes and related imaging platforms. Train others and develop additional relevant skills as appropriate. Contribute to high-complexity cytometry and imaging workflows to support research and development goals in a biosafety level 2+ laboratory.

Responsibilities

  • Operate analytical flow cytometry analyzers and sorters with primary emphasis, and cell imaging platforms as a secondary emphasis; identify instrument problems, perform basic troubleshooting/remediation, and oversee field engineer remediation when required.
  • Compile high-complexity multiparameter fluorophore panels for legacy and full-spectrum flow cytometers to maximize signal while minimizing fluorescence spillover.
  • Guide and train others on facility use and maintain personal accountability for prioritized projects.
  • Work in a biosafety level 2+ laboratory, maintain laboratory safety for all personnel, and initiate and complete risk assessments for new activities as appropriate.

Qualifications

  • Required: Doctorate degree (PhD) or PharmD or MD preferably with Cytometry experience; or Masterโ€™s degree with 2+ years of Cytometry experience; or Bachelorโ€™s degree with 4+ years of Cytometry experience.
  • Preferred: Education in the life sciences; prior experience working in a biopharmaceutical company or academic projects with a biopharmaceutical sponsor.
  • Preferred: Good documentation practices and scientific conduct as defined by standard operating procedures.
  • Preferred: Ability to leverage varied AI/ML analytical platforms as they emerge and work in a team structure with data scientists in synergy.
  • Preferred: Working knowledge of how to integrate flow and imaging cytometry efforts with adjacent single-cell technologies (e.g., RNA seq, CRISPR screens).

Skills

  • Operational proficiency with analytical flow cytometry analyzers and sorters and related imaging platforms
  • Panel design for legacy and full-spectrum flow cytometers to maximize signal and minimize spillover
  • Teaching and mentoring others; accountability for prioritized projects
  • Laboratory safety, risk assessment, and working in a biosafety level 2+ environment
  • Collaboration with data scientists and familiarity with AI/ML analytical platforms
  • Integration of flow and imaging cytometry with adjacent single-cell technologies
