Key Responsibilities
- Identify new siRNA drug targets based on human genetics, literature, academic collaborations, genomic approaches across the neurodegenerative space.
- Design and execute proof-of-concept experiments in animal and in vitro iPSC disease models.
- Design studies, coordinate activities, and lead from the bench.
- Serve as Biology Lead on select neurodegenerative/neuromuscular programs; oversee lead discovery for selection of drug candidates.
- Work with multifunctional teams to shepherd candidates through lead selection/development to the clinic.
- Support programs through CTA/IND filing processes.
- Manage CRO and/or academic collaborator relationships, including research plan development and data analysis.
- Mentor junior scientists.
- Collaborate and communicate results with internal and external stakeholders.
Qualifications
- PhD in biology or biomedical sciences-related field.
- Postdoc (academia or industry) or 1β2 years of experience preferred.
- Expertise in Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) strongly encouraged.
- Strong publication record.
- In vitro skills: RNA/protein quantification, high-content image-based and functional assays, single-cell RNA sequencing.
- In vivo mammalian disease model expertise strongly preferred (ICV injections, necropsy, behavioral analysis, ex vivo processing, molecular/histological assessments).
- Strong organizational skills; ability to proactively multitask.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; collaborative in fast-paced teams.
- Curiosity to learn new biology and passion for hands-on laboratory work.
