Role Summary

The Scientist, Cell/Molecular Biology conducts in vitro and ex vivo experiments to validate novel targets using cell lines and primary human cell sources. They perform cell culture (suspension and adherent) and a broad range of assays, collect and analyze data for presentations and reports, and maintain up-to-date knowledge of new technologies and advances in tumor dependencies and cancer biology from literature and scientific meetings.

Responsibilities

  • Execute in vitro or ex vivo experiments to validate novel targets using cell lines & primary human cell sources.
  • Perform cell culture (suspension & adherent) & assays including but not limited to: DNA/RNA/protein purification, siRNA/CRISPR knockdowns, Lentiviral transfections, immunoprecipitation, WES, western blot, ELISA, MSD, HTRF, quantitative PCR, protein degradation & colorimetric assays.
  • Collect, analyze, & summarize data for presentations, & reports.
  • Maintain an up-to-date understanding of new technologies & relevant scientific advances in tumor dependencies & its roles in cancer from literature & scientific meetings.

Qualifications

  • Education & Experience: Must have a Master's degree in Cellular & Molecular Biology, Cancer Biology, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Pharmacology, or related field & 2 years of experience as a Scientist. Of experience required, must have 2 years: (i) performing mammalian cell culture in a biosafety level 2 environment; (ii) performing (a) western blotting, immunoprecipitation, WES, or ELISA, (b) DNA/RNA isolation, RT-PCR, separation techniques for primary cells, & (c) gene expression analysis; (iii) handling & processing human tissue samples for biological assays; & (iv) developing, optimizing, & troubleshooting cell-based assays. Of experience required, must also have 1 year: (i) manipulating gene expression by CRISPR methods in cancer cell types; (ii) utilizing the biological data analysis software tool: GraphPad Prism & at least one of the software tools: Excel, Image Studio, Spotfire, or Compass; & (iii) documenting experimental procedures & methodologies for regulatory filings. Work experience may be gained concurrently.
