Role Summary

Scientist in a lab-based biology role focused on supporting small molecule drug discovery in oncology. Based in Waltham, MA, you will validate oncology targets, develop cell-based assays, identify lead molecules, and elucidate their mechanisms of action to advance candidates toward clinical development.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and validate oncology targets.
  • Use preclinical models including cell lines and organoids, and generate derivative models using genetic approaches.
  • Develop, implement, and troubleshoot cell-based phenotypic assays (e.g., proliferation, survival, cell cycle, apoptosis in 2D/3D and clonogenic formats).
  • Develop and implement experiments to evaluate mechanisms of action and identify candidate biomarkers, applying techniques such as western blotting, ELISA, flow cytometry, RT-PCR, and high-content imaging assays.
  • Analyze, interpret, and communicate research data.
  • Maintain clear and accurate experimental records in accordance with standard methodologies for data generation and deposition, including data for AI application and deployment.

Qualifications

  • Scientist: Bachelorโ€šร„รดs or Masterโ€šร„รดs degree or equivalent experience with a minimum of 3 years post-graduation research experience, or a PhD with 0 years of experience.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in data processing, management and analysis.
  • A positive, collaborative demeanor and a desire to learn, as well as the ability to work independently, are highly desired.

Preferred

  • Knowledge of cancer cell biology and genetics.
  • Drug discovery experience in academic, biotech, or pharmaceutical industry settings.
  • Familiarity with multiple assay platforms and technologies, along with experience in assay development and automation.
  • Experience generating high-throughput data, and ability to analyze such data, including deploying data science and AI tools.
