Role: Scientist in the Downstream Process Scale-up Facility within Lilly's Bioproduct Research and Development group, focusing on biologics manufacturing process development. Responsibilities: develop and optimize downstream purification processes for biologics such as monoclonal antibodies, recombinant proteins, viral vectors, and peptides; execute scale-up and tech transfer activities; support research and toxicology studies with process materials; perform intermediate scale chromatography, filtration, and related operations; document procedures, analyze data, and prepare technical reports. Qualifications: Bachelor's in science or engineering, 3+ years of bioprocessing experience in manufacturing or pilot plant, hands-on knowledge of chromatography, filtration, and process control systems (e.g., UNICORN), safety-minded with experience managing schedules and authoring processing documentation. Preferred: experience with multiple chromatography types, manual/mechanical operations in pilot settings, electronic lab systems, data analysis skills, and process troubleshooting. High-value: biologics (monoclonal antibodies, recombinant proteins, viral vectors), downstream purification, process scale-up, safety protocols, and cross-functional collaboration with CMC, manufacturing, and quality teams. Work setup: Indianapolis, IN; travel up to 10%; laboratory and pilot plant environment.
