Role Summary
The Research Department at Alnylam is seeking a scientist to contribute to targeted delivery efforts for expanding RNAi into new tissues. The candidate will contribute to platform efforts centered on extrahepatic siRNA delivery and work closely with RNAi Platform, Medicinal Chemistry, and Delivery Sciences teams. This position will focus on developing tools and screening compounds to characterize delivery strategies for RNAi therapeutics. This lab-based role is onsite at the Cambridge location.
Responsibilities
- Design plasmid constructs for generating cell lines stably expressing membrane proteins
- Organize and maintain a functional inventory of plasmid sequences
- Establish tools, execute assays, and develop in vitro models to evaluate delivery and activity of siRNA conjugates
- Collaborate across the organization to optimize RNA drugs for tissue-specific delivery
- Design controlled experiments, analyze data, and present findings to various groups across the research organization
Qualifications
- Required: PhD in biochemistry, molecular biology, or a related field with up to 3 years of industry experience
- Required: Experience in design and optimization of plasmids for efficient cellular expression of membrane proteins
- Required: Expertise with mammalian cell culture including maintenance, transfection, transduction, imaging techniques, and cell line generation
- Preferred: Experience with standard biochemical and cell-based assays for receptor/ligand interactions (flow cytometry, microscopy, ELISA, BLI)
- Preferred: Experience with plasmid registration and inventory maintenance
- Required: Strong interpersonal and excellent written and oral communication skills
