Position Summary
The Scientist - Bioinformatics will support and maintain existing NGS pipelines, and develop, implement, and validate new NGS pipelines and related bioinformatics tools. Will design and manage analytic workflows and pipelines to support whole exome, transcriptome, and genome assays.

Job Responsibilities
- Implement and maintain computational pipelines/workflows for analysis, integration, and interpretation of genomic, transcriptomic, proteomic, and metabolomic data.
- Implement bioinformatics strategies aligned with organizational and scientific objectives.
- Collaborate with research, clinical, and data scientists to translate questions into analytical workflows; provide guidance for data processing, quality control, and statistical analysis.
- Stay current on emerging bioinformatics tools/techniques and incorporate them into the framework.
- Ensure timely delivery of high-quality results via QC and validation.
- Establish and maintain databases, data repositories, and analytical platforms for data integration, sharing, and access.
- Partner with IT/software teams to optimize computational infrastructure, cloud computing, and databases for storage, analysis, and visualization.
- Ensure compliance with data protection and ethics guidelines for privacy and security.
- Provide technical expertise to support collaborations and joint research projects.

Required Qualifications
- PhD in bioinformatics, biostatistics, biomedical engineering, computer science, or related field.
- 2–5 years experience with state-of-the-art bioinformatics tools, especially NGS pipelines.
- Knowledge managing FASTQ, BAM, and VCF data.
- Programming: Python, bash, SQL, GIT.
- AWS experience (Lambda, Step Functions, OMICS) and WDL/Nextflow preferred.
- Statistical analysis/visualization with R, SAS, or SciPy.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and basic internet use.

Preferred Qualifications
- Good verbal and written communication.
- Willingness to share/receive ideas across the organization.
- Strong foundation in computational biology/bioinformatics methodologies for large-scale pipelines.

Physical Demands
- Ability to sit/stand/work at a computer for long periods.

Other
- Periodic travel; some evenings/weekends/holidays; possible after-hours response and on-call.
