Role Summary

Scientist – Disease Profiling. Join Amgen’s mission to serve patients by advancing disease biology through innovative sequencing technologies to identify therapeutic targets across oncology, inflammation, and cardiovascular/metabolic diseases.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and deliver omics data using advanced sequencing platforms such as long-read sequencing; leverage multi-omic data to characterize disease biology and model systems.
  • Identify and implement developing and impactful omics technologies to advance drug discovery.
  • Operate and maintain in-house NGS sequencing instruments.
  • Apply computational, statistical, and machine learning methods to analyze omics datasets in collaboration with the bioinformatics team.
  • Collaborate across multidisciplinary teams to accelerate target discovery.
  • Present research findings to cross-functional groups and publish in peer-reviewed forums.
  • Maintain organized project records, electronic lab notebooks, and code/data repositories.

Qualifications

  • Basic Qualifications:
    • Doctorate degree or
    • Master‚Äôs degree and 2 years of relevant scientific experience or
    • Bachelor‚Äôs degree and 4 years of relevant scientific experience
  • Preferred Qualifications:
    • Hands-on expertise in data generation using advanced sequencing technologies including long-read sequencing platforms (e.g. PacBio, Oxford Nanopore).
    • Hands-on experience with single-cell RNA-seq technologies (library prep and analysis).
    • Proficiency in programming (R/Python), Unix/Linux environments, and cloud computing for analysis of long-read sequencing and large omics datasets including isoform sequencing analysis.
    • Experience with polysome-seq or ribo-seq is a plus.
    • Ability to quickly adopt novel methods and demonstrate independent critical thinking, complex problem solving, and innovative research.
    • Strong written, verbal, and organizational skills and ability to work in a fast-paced multi-disciplinary team.
