Job Description
The Scientist will design and synthesize novel chemical constructs as potential new RPT therapies for cancer treatments. The role is highly technical and requires bench work, high productivity, and strong data analysis; comfort working under tight timelines.
Job Responsibilities
- Design and synthesize small molecule/novel peptide compounds for SAR campaigns.
- Develop SAR on assigned projects; design and synthesize key target molecules to test hypotheses.
- Independently plan and execute organic synthesis routes for complex molecules; use modern purification/analytical tools for characterization.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to support lead identification/optimization.
- Coordinate with chemists, DMPK, imaging, and in vitro/vivo teams to generate targets to support the screening funnel.
- Support target selection and initiation of new RPT projects.
- Stay current on RPT literature; identify novel concepts.
- Contribute to IP filings and drafting publications/presentations.
- Present research findings and project updates.
- Follow safety, regulatory, and company policies; use AI tools to improve productivity/quality.
Education and Experience
- BS with 5+ years; or MS with 3+ years; or PhD with 0 years.
Preferred Qualifications
- PhD in synthetic organic/medicinal/peptide chemistry; 0–4+ years post-PhD/postdoc in pharma/biotech R&D.
- Experience with targeted cancer therapy modalities such as RPTs, ADCs, or PDCs (highly desirable).
Skills and Qualifications
- Expertise in synthetic organic/peptide/med chem; high lab productivity.
- Multi-step synthesis, structure-based drug design; NMR and HPLC/LC-MS.
- Strong technical problem-solving; understanding of drug design, SAR, ADME/PK.
- Ability to collaborate, share/interpret data, and plan experiments independently.
- Excellent written/oral communication and presentation; fast-paced collaborative environment.
