Role Summary

The Scientific Leader, Flow Cytometry Technology at GSK Cambridge Park Drive, Boston, is a high-impact, innovative role dedicated to advancing flow cytometry applications that underpin vaccine development. You will be instrumental in driving operational excellence and pioneering new technological approaches in flow cytometry, working alongside scientists, lab heads, and leaders across the company to shape the future of preclinical research.

Responsibilities

  • Innovative Leadership: Collaborate with key stakeholders to evaluate and implement established and emerging flow cytometry technologies, ensuring alignment with preclinical objectives and project milestones.
  • Hands-On Excellence: Provide on-site and virtual expertise by training users, troubleshooting equipment, and testing new applications in a dynamic laboratory setting.
  • Assay Development & Optimization: Spearhead the exploration, development, and integration of novel flow cytometry assays that generate high-quality, actionable data critical for business decisions.
  • Data Analysis: Advise and be actively involved in flow cytometry data analysis, applying and implementing software and high-dimensional analysis tools.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Function as a matrix leader by coordinating with multiple teams and departments to ensure seamless integration of technical solutions.
  • Strategic Scientific Guidance: Provide strategic advice in flow cytometry to drive innovation in vaccine research and development for preclinical scientists, lab heads, and senior management.
  • External Partnership Cultivation: Build and maintain relationships with external scientific partners, vendors, and key opinion leaders to accelerate vaccine discovery and development.
  • Innovation Catalyst: Seek out the latest advances in flow cytometry technologies and applications to position GSK at the forefront of scientific discovery.

Qualifications

  • Required: Ph.D. or M.S. in immunology, virology, medicine, biology or related field; 5+ years post-graduate experience for Ph.D. and 8+ years for M.S.
  • Required: At least 5 years of experience in flow cytometry applied to immunology or vaccine/pharmaceutical research; demonstrated ability to establish and lead Core Flow Cytometry laboratories; strong flow cytometry data analysis experience.
  • Preferred: Extended network of flow cytometry experts and KOLs; vendor engagement experience; data science knowledge for high-dimensional data analysis; track record of peer-reviewed publications; independent, self-driven; excellent communication and presentation skills; fluent English.
