Role: Scientific Lead overseeing operational management of Lilly's Indianapolis sample management site within the Global Sample Management organization, focusing on high-throughput compound and sample activities to support drug discovery. Responsibilities: lead daily sample management operations (compound registration, plate prep, liquid handling, logistics), serve as primary contact for discovery scientists, ensure data integrity and compliance, optimize workflows through automation, and lead team development and process improvements. Qualifications: PhD in chemical, biological, or engineering sciences with 2+ years of lab experience, or BS/MS with 5+ years in compound/sample management. Skills: proficiency with LIMS, laboratory automation (e.g., liquid handlers, storage systems), team leadership, high-throughput screening workflows, and familiarity with automation software (e.g., Beckman Echo, Tecan). Preferred: experience with multi-modality samples (small molecules, biologics), GxP environments, programming tools (Python, Excel), and managing CRO logistics. High-value specifics: supports multi-modality sample types, scale-up of high-throughput workflows, automation-driven sample processes, and compliance with data integrity standards. Leadership involves cross-functional collaboration with medicinal chemistry, biology, and global teams, with a focus on operational excellence, capacity planning, and strategic expansion into new modalities. Location: Indianapolis-based site, with a focus on sustaining and transforming sample management capabilities.
