Scientific Lead - Forward Deployed AI Engineer, Applied Intelligence for Discovery

Role: Forward Deployed AI Engineer within Lilly's AI4D team, bridging AI capabilities and scientific discovery in drug research. Responsibilities: embed with research teams to understand workflows, develop prototypes, and deploy scalable AI solutions using LLMs, RAG, and emerging frameworks for target ID, biomarker analysis, and multi-omics data insights; run evaluations, refine models, and contribute to reusable platform components; partner with AI/LLMOps engineers and foster a culture of experimentation. Qualifications: PhD in computational biology, bioinformatics, data science, or related field with 3+ years (or MS with 5+ years) of experience deploying AI/ML tools in biotech/pharma; strong Python skills, familiarity with AI frameworks (PyTorch, HuggingFace), cloud (AWS), and biological data types (RNA-seq, proteomics, GWAS); experience with biological foundation models, knowledge graphs, and multi-omics; ability to communicate complex tech to scientific audiences.
