Scientific Laboratory Technician

Role: Scientific Laboratory Technician in Materials Engineering responsible for preparing, testing, and documenting material samples, supporting quality and continuous improvement initiatives. Responsibilities include metallurgical sample preparation, microstructural analysis, testing (e.g., hardness, rheometry, SEM, LIBS), laboratory maintenance, inventory management, and trending nonconforming materials while assisting engineers in experimental activities. The role involves close collaboration with manufacturing and engineering teams to resolve production quality issues. Requirements: Associate Degree, Technical Certification, or High School Diploma with at least 5 years of relevant experience; strong attention to detail; proficiency in Excel and data entry; ability to prioritize multiple projects. Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Materials Science, or Metallurgy; 1–3 years lab experience; familiarity with metallography, ISO standards, and Lean Six Sigma. High-value specifics include laboratory testing in a manufacturing environment, metallographic techniques, and support for quality/trending activities. Work environment encompasses lab and manufacturing floor settings, with PPE use, extended standing, and handling small tools.
