Role Summary

The lead for Scientific Information Resource management is responsible for the strategic direction of the AbbVie EKA (Library) global portfolio of published information resources. The role oversees the Content Value Cycle, evaluating licensed content and data to ensure investments deliver measurable benefits, and drives vendor strategies, contracts, and stakeholder relationships. It also monitors usage and impact to inform content strategy and optimize portfolio performance, collaborating with Legal and Procurement to ensure contractual compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the global Scientific Information Resource process, including strategic vendor and license/content management, copyright licensing consulting, and measurement of resource and service metrics.
  • Develop long-term vendor management strategies with key information providers to maximize value and ensure high-quality information at equitable prices.
  • Define strategies to enhance value-based outcomes with vendors.
  • Oversee contractual compliance for licensed resources and ensure adherence to international copyright laws.
  • Define AI/LLM use-right strategies/compliance by understanding the current AI/LLM environment and evaluating technology solutions using information systems methodologies.
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives to assess information needs and advise on integrated information services.
  • Measure and analyze usage of SRMO resources and services to support content strategy and portfolio management.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and translate them into actions that improve operational efficiency.
  • Provide strategic support to SRMO leads through active participation in leadership activities.
  • Maintain a productive, high-quality service-oriented work environment and ensure compliance with corporate and divisional policies.

Qualifications

  • Required: Bachelor's Degree with 7 years of experience; Master’s Degree with 6 years’ experience; PhD with 2 years of experience.
  • Required: Innovative mindset, adaptability, collaborative skills, attention to detail, and strategic thinking.
  • Required: Experience reviewing, negotiating, and executing agreements with publishers and vendors.
  • Required: Knowledge of recent advancements and trends in generative AI technologies.
  • Required: Proven expertise in vendor, negotiation, and relationship management.
  • Preferred: Library Science, Information Science, or Life Sciences experience.
