Role Summary
The Scientific Director of ADC Chemistry will be a key scientific innovator and operational leader responsible for shaping and advancing the ADC Discovery portfolio. This role requires a creative and scientifically driven leader who can identify and originate new research opportunities, guide early-stage discovery projects, and contribute to the development of our ADC Discovery strategy across the research organization. The successful candidate will manage a team of chemists, lead multidisciplinary project teams, and implement operational improvements that enable rapid exploration and execution of innovative ideas aligned with our organizational strategy and goals.
Responsibilities
- Help deliver the next generation of ADC therapeutics. Promote a culture of innovation by integrating new ideas, targets, technologies and methodologies into the ADC Discovery organization.
- Provide leadership to multidisciplinary project teams focused on development of the next generation of ADCs. Leverage a collaborative mindset to oversee strategic project planning, operational execution across internal teams and partner lines, and clear communication of project achievements and risks.
- Manage a team of ADC chemists, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment. Provide supportive coaching, professional development, and performance feedback to direct reports to increase employee engagement and impact.
- Support operational improvements within ADC Chemistry and across the ADC Discovery organization. Proactively identify opportunities to increase productivity and quality through optimization of workflows and introduction of best practices.
- Contribute to the strategic direction of the ADC Discovery organization and align ADC Chemistry initiatives with broader organizational goals.
Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related scientific discipline, with 12+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry.
- Prior experience in ADC discovery with a focus on novel payload development is preferred. Candidates with extensive experience in small molecule modalities and interest in targeted drug delivery will also be considered.
- Demonstrated success in advancing innovative scientific projects and driving operational improvements.
- Ability to lead and develop high-performing teams in a matrixed organization.
- Proven ability to manage direct reports for individual performance and career growth.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
