Scientific Director

Role: Senior scientific leader specializing in cardiometabolic disease, obesity, and related co-morbidities within Novo Nordisk's global research team. Objectives include defining and executing innovative strategies for early discovery in obesity and cardiometabolic areas, emphasizing translational research, weight management quality, and CNS mechanisms. Responsibilities: lead scientific strategy, external innovation, and collaborations; guide multidisciplinary teams; assess emerging biology and technology opportunities; evaluate and negotiate partnerships; represent the company at scientific forums; mentor colleagues; and influence portfolio decisions. Requirements: PhD with 7+ years (or MD/DO with 3+ years), deep expertise in drug discovery for T1D or obesity, proven leadership in translational science, stakeholder management, and cross-functional influence. Preferred skills include industry experience, creativity, high-level communication, and global collaboration abilities. High-value specifics: focus on obesity, cardiometabolic disease, weight loss quality, CNS mechanisms, early discovery, translational endpoints, external innovation, academic and biotech partnerships, and cross-site global teamwork.
