Role Summary

SAP Functional Lead & Solution Owner responsible for the SAP ERP platform, providing strategic direction, cross-functional coordination, and internal leadership across modules such as Supply Chain, Finance, Sales and Procurement. Serves as the key liaison between business stakeholders, external SAP experts, and the wider IT organization. Owns SAP solution governance and ensures changes align with business goals and architectural standards.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as internal solution owner for SAP, overseeing design consistency, data integrity, and cross-functional integration.
  • Own the SAP governance process, including change advisory, release planning, and coordination with business process owners.
  • Ensure the SAP system supports business process efficiency, compliance, and scalability.
  • Coordinate the work of internal SAP functional consultants across modules (e.g., Finance, Supply Chain, Procurement, Security).
  • Translate business requirements into actionable SAP solutions, working closely with key users and stakeholders.
  • Maintain a high-level understanding of end-to-end processes and identify opportunities for process improvement or automation.
  • Lead or support delivery of SAP-related projects (e.g., upgrades, integrations, enhancement waves).
  • Act as the primary liaison for external SAP consultants, developers, and architects, ensuring alignment with internal standards and objectives.
  • Facilitate decision-making on solution design, resourcing, and system road map execution.
  • Guide internal team members and ensure knowledge transfer, documentation, and adherence to best practices.
  • Provide internal oversight of areas such as Compliance, master data, testing/validation, and data migration when applicable.
  • Support leadership with updates on SAP performance, risks, and improvement plans.

Qualifications

  • Experience in SAP functional roles (cross-module exposure preferred).
  • Demonstrated leadership in SAP solution ownership, process alignment, or governance roles.
  • Strong understanding of core SAP modules (e.g., MM, FI/CO, SD, EWM).
  • Proven ability to manage stakeholders and translate business needs into SAP actions.
  • Experience in life sciences / pharma / regulated industries.
  • Preferred: Exposure to SAP S/4HANA and modern SAP integration (Fiori, Cloud services).
  • Preferred: Experience with vendor/partner management.
  • Soft skills: Strong organizational and coordination abilities; proactive, hands-on, and collaborative mindset.
