Role Summary

Sales Representative - US Farm Animal Beef (South Dakota). You will act as a Territory Account Manager responsible for creating demand and securing sales by delivering the value of Elanco Animal Health products to direct customers and influencers. You will manage the territory through a yearly action plan, account plans, expense management, and appropriate communications aligned with Elanco's business unit marketing and sales objectives. The sales territory includes Beef and Dairy customers, veterinarians, nutritionists, feed companies, and distribution contacts.

Responsibilities

  • Territory Management: Plan, analyze and execute territory, account and budget plans to meet performance objectives within the Cattle Business Unit. Implement and appropriately execute selling cycles, marketing programs and initiatives. Plan and implement territory specific sales promotions, customer meetings and key customer outings and incentives.
  • Product Knowledge and Sales: Demonstrate technical fluency by successfully positioning all Elanco Cattle products and services through key messages, scientific information and product expertise.
  • Building and Maintaining Customer Relationships: Establish and nurture relationships with cattle producers, feed mills, retailers, veterinary clinics and other key influencers within the designated sales territory. This involves regular communication, conducting sales visits, and providing excellent customer service to meet their needs.
  • Collaboration with Account Teams: Work closely with cross-functional Elanco account teams, which may include marketing, technical support, and customer service representatives. Collaborating with these teams will help you provide comprehensive solutions to your customers and ensure a seamless customer experience. You will share customer insights, collaborate on marketing campaigns, coordinate product demonstrations, and address any customer concerns or issues that may arise.
  • Collaboration with Veterinary and Nutrition Professionals: Work closely with veterinarians and nutritionists to provide comprehensive solutions to Elanco Customers. This may involve coordinating joint visits, discussing treatment protocols, and seeking their expertise to address specific animal health and nutrition challenges.

Qualifications

  • Required: Education: Bachelorโ€™s Degree (preferred Agriculture or Animal Science major) or High School Diploma / GED with equivalent level of experience.
  • Required: Strong work ethic. Team mentality and collaboration. Valid driverโ€™s license and acceptable driving record.
  • Required: Legally authorized to work in the United States. Elanco does not anticipate providing sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H-1B or TN status) for this employment position.
  • Preferred: Experience with beef producers.
  • Preferred: 3+ years of experience in the animal health or nutrition industry.
  • Preferred: Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the specific territory where you will be operating (South Dakota).
  • Preferred: Prior experience in sales, preferably in the animal health or agricultural industry.
  • Preferred: High initiative and work ethic; knowledge of cattle production including economics and key drivers; excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to influence without authority; strong learning agility.

  • Travel: 50-70% (Daily travel to see customers and some overnights are required)
