Safety, Health & Environment (SHE), North Ryde Our Engineering & Facilities function enables safe, reliable and sustainable operations across AstraZeneca. Within SHE, we partner with site leaders and frontline teams to drive a strong safety culture, ensure compliance with legislation and AZ standards, and progress environmental sustainability initiatives. You will join a collaborative local team with access to regional and global SHE communities. What you’ll do Provide strategic and operational SHE support for the North Ryde site under the direction of the SHE Lead, partnering across shifts and collaborator groups. Lead day-to-day SHE activities: incident response and investigations, action management, timely stakeholder support and accurate technical advice. Implement, review and improve the North Ryde Safety Management System to meet legal obligations and AZ standards; uplift compliance and ways of working. Coach and mentor partners in SHE systems and processes; design and deliver engaging training (face-to-face, virtual, toolbox talks) and coordinate external RTOs as needed. Drive effective risk management: develop/review risk assessments, maintain risk registers, and ensure controls align with legislation and guidelines. Lead high-risk work programs (confined spaces, work at height, chemical management, LOTOTO and permits) and support environmental sustainability initiatives and compliance. Essential for the role 5 years’ experience in a comparable SHE role within FMCG, engineering, manufacturing or similar complex environments. WHS qualifications (minimum Cert IV and Diploma) and certified incident investigation (e.g., ICAM or equivalent). Strong knowledge of Australian SHE legislation, standards and codes, with confirmed experience in risk assessment, incident investigation, and SHE systems. Shown capability handling high-risk work and permits (confined spaces, work at height, chemicals, LOTOTO); excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills. Desirable for the role Postgraduate qualification in SHE or related field; Workplace Trainer & Assessor Cert IV; SHE Management System auditing. Experience in environment and sustainability, process safety and process hazard analysis. RTW Coordinator qualifications and experience; familiarity with GMP environments (pharma or food).
