Role Summary

Robotics Solutions Engineer Apprenticeship Program at Johnson & Johnson, based in Santa Clara, CA. Responsibilities

  • Apply a broad variety of engineering subject areas to integrate, operate, root-cause, and maintain the OTTAVA Robotic Surgical System in hospitals and medical facilities as part of the Service Solutions organization.

Qualifications

  • Permanently authorized to work in the U.S., and not require visa sponsorship at the time of application or in the future.
  • Undergraduate or graduate degree in Electrical, Computer, Software, Mechatronics, Systems, Robotics, or Biomedical Engineering with graduation date between January 2025 and June 2026.
  • Understanding of programming concepts and ability to modify existing code (C++, Python, etc.).
  • Fundamental understanding across software, controls, robotics, mechanical, and electrical engineering; ability to quickly learn new technical areas.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and related documentation.
  • Experience partitioning and decomposing complex engineering problems into solvable tasks.
  • Excellent collaboration, communication, and interpersonal skills for leading projects.
  • Hands-on experience with software-controlled mechanical systems preferred; previous robotics projects preferred; Linux development experience preferred; experience in regulated industry preferred.
  • Willingness to relocate anywhere in the United States upon completion of the program; travel up to 40% within the US.

Work Environment

  • Field-based role including R&D labs, hospitals, procurement centers, storage locations, service and repair centers, professional education labs, and conferences.

Physical Demands

  • May require lifting up to 25 lbs and operation of hoisting equipment for heavier loads; prolonged standing, bending, sitting, and kneeling during system integration.

Education

  • Degree in a relevant engineering field as listed in Qualifications.
