Role Summary

Respiratory Medical Science Liaison - South Texas (Houston) is a field-based role providing medical and scientific support for AstraZeneca's marketed products, new indications, and compounds in development. The role focuses on developing scientific exchanges and practice change within Health Systems to improve care for patients with asthma and/or COPD.

Responsibilities

  • Develop relationships and engage in scientific exchange with medical and scientific partners within Health Systems, focusing on practice change to improve patient care in asthma and/or COPD.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders including Commercial Account Directors/Managers, Payer Medical, Medical Directors, and Practice Change Champions.
  • Identify investigators for pre-clinical, clinical, and post-marketing studies aligned with Medical Affairs objectives; provide information that enhances product value and proper use.
  • Respond to customer inquiries with focused and balanced clinical and scientific information supporting appropriate use or differentiation of AstraZeneca products.
  • The position is based in South Texas; applicants from Houston are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

  • Required: 0-1 yearsโ€™ experience as a Medical Science Liaison in the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Required: Advanced Clinical/Science Degree (e.g., MD, PharmD, PhD, MSN, NP, PA, etc.). BSN with extensive clinical experience may be considered.
  • Knowledge of Health Systems, customer segments and market dynamics.
  • Demonstrated ability to discuss scientific content to multiple audiences.
  • Experience initiating Practice Change within Health Systems.
  • Excellent project management, oral and written communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite; thorough knowledge of regulatory environment.
  • Experience in the pharmaceutical industry; strong leadership capabilities; must reside in the territory.
  • Ability to travel (50-70%) with percentage varying by geography.

Desirable Qualifications

  • 2+ yearsโ€™ experience as a Medical Science Liaison in the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Established track record of basic or clinical research.
  • Proven expertise in the drug discovery and development process.
  • Previous experience working within Health Systems or Integrated Delivery Networks.
